Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and the Beatles are not playing gigs in Hertfordshire... but Lithium are. Lithium are a mental health service users' Rock 'n' Roll band: Zak on drums and Bob Houlston on guitar/vocals. We met whilst patients in Albany Lodge NHS psychiatric hospital. Many enjoyable hours spent together in the music room established our friendship as we played rhythm and blues that echoed throughout the corridors of the ward. Occasionally some patients and nurses would join in and sing their favourite songs with us. We soon realised that our blend of pop / rock / blues had some potential which we enthusiastically consolidated with our intensive rehearsal schedule. A successful daycentre performance was swiftly followed by an International Network MP3 hosting. Bipolar is the new Rock 'n' Roll ! ;) Our live musical entertainment is based on songs and instrumentals, from late 1950s to early 60s, inspired by the style of artists from Jim Reeves to Jimi Hendrix.
